UNITED 'TO MAKE MARTINS INDI BID'
Manchester United are reportedly planning a £10m swoop for Porto defender Bruno Martins Indi, while Gerard Pique and Ron Vlaar remain options.
Bruno Martins Indi: Linked with £10m move to Man United
Louis van Gaal wants to beef up his struggling defence with a move for the Portuguese-born Holland defender, who is comfortable at the heart of defence or at left-back.
The 26-times capped defender, who played under van Gaal at the 2014 World Cup, only joined Porto in the summer having joined the club from Feyenoord, where he came through their academy.
It is thought Martins Indi is valued at around the £10million mark, and The Sun claims a bid for the defender could be in the pipeline.
Martins Indi spoke recently of a special connection to LVG, with the same paper quoting him as saying: "Spiritually I still have contact with Van Gaal.
"I think about him and I think he also thinks about me."
The United boss, who has seen his defenders struggle for form and fitness in his first season at Old Trafford, is also known to be considering January moves for Aston Villa's Vlaar and Barcelona's Pique.
Vlaar, who is out of contract next summer, has recently been linked with a £6million move to United, while Pique was again left out by Barca in the Champions League on Wednesday, amid claims he is wanted by United, Chelsea and Arsenal.

Premier League clubs are monitoring Gerard Pique's big freeze out at Barcelona.
The defender was missing for their Champions League win at Ajax.
Pique was left out of the starting line-up for the second successive game amid reports that Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal have submitted offers for the Barcelona defender.
Inexperienced Marc Bartra was asked to partner Javier Mascherano in the centre of defence for Wednesday's Champions League tie against Ajax.
And the decision by Barca boss Luis Enrique to leave Pique on the bench during Wednesday's 2-0 victory prompted Spanish newspaper AS to question whether he had a future at the Nou Camp.

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has concerns over Radamel Falcao's fitness.
The Daily Mail says Van Gaal is already concerned that loan signing Falcao may not be physically capable of sustained action in the Barclays Premier League.
United signed the Colombia striker on loan from Monaco at the start of the season and already have the details of a permanent deal in place if he has a good spell at Old Trafford.
However, Falcao arrived having suffered a serious knee injury last season and has only started three league games.

Real Madrid see Chelsea ace Hazard as Bale replacement

REAL MADRID SEE CHELSEA ACE HAZARD AS BALE REPLACEMENT

Real Madrid are chasing Chelsea winger Eden Hazard.
The Daily Express says Real are to step up their interest in Chelsea star Hazard as they prepare for life without Gareth Bale.
Bale's future at Real Madrid has come into question in recent weeks, with reports suggesting Manchester United are interested in signing the Welshman.
The Red Devils are understood to be keen on a £90m move for the 25-year-old next summer, as long as they return to Champions League football.
Real have targeted Blues forward Hazard as the perfect replacement, should Bale want a return to the Premier League.
The European champions are long-term admirers of the Belgium international, losing out on signing him from Lille as he favoured £35m move to Stamford Bridge.

Manchester City are chasing Real Madrid defender Pepe for the January market.
City boss Manuel Pellegrini has concerns over Eliaquim Mangala's shaky form and wants to add the experience of Pepe to his squad.
A Bola says Pellegrini will seek to convince Pepe about moving to City by guaranteeing automatic first-choice status alongside skipper Vincent Kompany. The Chilean sees the 31 year-old as a successor for Martin Demichelis.
Demichelis will leave in the summer when his contract expires.
Pepe is tied to Real until 2016.

REVEALED: Victor Valdes undergoes Man Utd medical

as_valdes

Former Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes is a step closer to signing with Manchester United.
The free agent is training with United after recovering from knee surgery and is discussing terms.
The Sun says Valdes took a big step towards clinching a move to United after he completed a medical at the club.
The Spain international had been training with Liverpool last month before making the switch to Old Trafford.
Any deal for Valdes would see Anders Lindegaard leave United in January.
